People who wonder why Jack is so sensitive about Joke’s constant theft to get his way, even if it is for Jack, forget that one of the main prejudices against economically struggling classes of people is that those from privileged classes look at them with suspicion of crimes like theft literally chronically.

And Jack is the kind of person who is extra hard on himself because of the things he doesn’t have and he wants to escape this ‘othering’, this dehumanization of sorts, by using with what he has— his skills and knowledge, i.e. socially acceptable means.

This aversion to theft is seen even in Tattoo’s mother when she chastises her son for stealing from Boss despite how much they are literally suffering because of him. To escape prejudice against poor people being inherent thieves, they have to be ten times better than the average person, can't be immoral the same way the rich are, or else their suffering magically becomes "deserved" because they're not "good poor people."

YET, the complexity of this othering is so deep that even wanting to be self-reliant is frowned upon, as you see when Joke’s Dad criticizes Jack for being ‘poor but proud’ to want to give his grandmother the best medical treatment.

The reality is, the source of this ‘pride’/self-reliance, is literally… never having anyone who will help you out of your situations. Boss helping his grandmother with medicine was literally a scheme to use her to control Jack. And help for the hospital bills came at the price of his life and identity in the hands of Boss.

The first time Jack got help for his dream was from Joke and it ended in the shattering of his hopes due to betrayal and being almost involved in theft— of all things.

Jack is the amalgamation, of all these expectations from others and from himself. He is simultaneously inclined to be the perfect ‘victim’ and the saviour who, having lost his own childhood, wants to give all the things he never had to the children. It is going to be a chance for them and a second chance for himself. He formed this idea when he too was just a baby.

Starting of strong with: Henry. Beautiful. Wonderful. I feel like other people have a different mental image of someone called Henry tho, but it's almost near perfection. Might also fit better with someone a bit older than me

Darryl. Never heard of the name before listening to DnDads. Don't think that Dutch people will pronouns or spell it correctly (including myself when I realized I have spelled it wrong this whole time until I checked it specifically for this post)

Ron. No offense to all the Rons out there, but no thanks. Sounds a bit too old. Also, I know a Ron

Glenn. If rock music would have been my personality. Also, Dutch pronunciation sounds awful

Taylor. Too many people associate it with the real Taylor Swift obviously. Would have been a considerable choice otherwise

Lincoln. Actually, I like the sound of the the name. Not for myself probably, but it sounds nice. I hate the spelling tho

Scary. No.

Normal. Absolutely not

Hermie. I absolutely love this name. But then I would want to have Hermie as a nickname and Herman as the full name, but in my understanding, the name Herman in Dutch is mostly popular with middle-aged emotionally distant men. But Hermie sounds so good aaaah

Terry. Pretty solid. Don't see it for myself, but it has something going for it

Sparrow & Lark. Same reason: if I would have been into birds as much as I'm into ants, I would have definitely stolen one of their names. Probably with a preference for Sparrow. A tiny bit sad that I'm not into birds that much

Grant. Nah. Also, Dutch pronunciation is awful. Kinda funny, but awful

Nick. No cons at all?? I love it??? It's PERFECTION. You can even go with Nicholas as a full name and use both Nick and Nicky as nicknames and !! I don't know anyone irl with that name, the most famous person with that name I can come up with is the character Nick from heartstopper, but I like the books, so I don't mind? Nick is just chefs kiss to perfection. But also, I can't keep collecting names like a dragon hoarding gold. But they're just all like tiny little shiny jewels I want to keep in my pockets

Some character designs I created for my uni course last year as part of a “trope smashing” brief! I really enjoyed how these guys turned out - I see them as a private investigative pair in a fantasy victorian-esque setting, with perhaps some sci-fi elements. And yes, they’re husbands.

like to me, the ~whole saving the world from the elven gods business~ is another gig she signed up for so she's treating it like one. she's very practical and pragmatic, and she does whatever she can to succeed in this particular endeavor. like she hardly banters with people when she's in business mode lmfao the only time she jokes around is when she's out of her office hours.

one thing that i wish for though is for the dialogues to be much more mean/stricter. i've gone past the weisshaupt quest and i wish you can be more mean on lucanis for flopping LMFAO like sorry king but to me marina would be sm harder on him since she hired him for that job but he didn't do it right, so what is he good for? if he can't do the one thing she asks for then she has no need for him, and she'd just get someone else. likewise i don't see her being sad about the prospect of davrin sacrificing himself when he's going to kill the archdemon bc that's like. why he's in here in the first place LMFAO like to me, marina would be like well this is what you signed up for 🤷 like she detaches her personal feelings from business. like in a personal level ofc she would be sad if davrin did die but in the end that comes with the job u know.... like she's so serious business woman to me she'd thrive in succession

HOLY shit the amount of AI slop on pinterest has made it fucking unusable. I keep trying to fight it by hiding ever AI generated image I see but that means half (or more) of the search results get hidden and I'm left with only a handful of human-made images. Everything seems fine for me when I use it normally, but the second I go looking for inspiration for characters or a world I'm building...

I mean why? Why??? I think the most offensive ones are the ones labelled as "inspiration." There is nothing inspiring about an image created with almost no human input, no artistry, no passion - what part of that is supposed to inspire me? It is nothing but a delusion to think you're being helpful by flooding the internet with this garbage, no matter your intentions.

It's getting to a point where I'm struggling to tell what's AI and what isn't, which has not only become a massive nuisance very quickly, but has also quite frankly wounded my pride. I'm just trying to build a board of reference images and inspiration for my fantasy world, I don't want to be doing mental gymnastics with every single image I come across and that looks like what I'm after; there's lots of detail in the background, but those patterns don't line up and everything has a suspicious blur while simultaneously being very sharp, is it an artistic choice or just AI being AI?

I know it's basically unavoidable at this point, but that doesn't mean I have to accept that. I want photographs taken and art made by humans! I want architecture photos and illustrations of what that same placemight have looked like 500 years ago! I refuse to kowtow to the assholes who make the internet an unsafe place for artists like myself, who carry on despite the knowledge that our art (drawings, writing, photography, etc.) is probably being stolen and stuffed into a digital machine that demands more and more of our blood, sweat and tears just to eventually replace us.

The next time you stumble onto an AI generated image and think "hey, that's not so bad, it's kinda pretty actually," remember that that image could not have been created without a hundered pieces of stolen art and a hundered human artists left in its wake.

yeah like i don't mind movie spin-offs they can be fun but i prefer them as isolated character exploration experiences or just entirely isolated things for fun right, and im worried that since apparently at least someone working on the movies wants them to be the next marvel or some shit (idk i read a headline about it and heard it mentioned once or twice don't quote me on this at all) things will end up as this huge messy "cinematic universe" where nothing can or is allowed to exist in isolation, everything is canon and ties into each other, and if you want to understand anything you have to start from the beginning and Consume(TM). what if there will come a time when your knowledge of the games simply isn't enough to catch you up to speed anymore? the thought sickens me

and yeah humans. i understand they gotta have some because it's live-action and im not opposed to live-action by any means, and that the setting and sonic's backstory and all require more human presence, it's just that. you're making movies about furry games. the more humans there are the more they take away space from the furries i want to look at and see explored in greater detail. humans in the games are typically NPCs or antagonists with just a handful of exceptions and i'd prefer if things were kept that way. the found family thing is cute sure but it forces more and more humans to the foreground which is not really the point in sonic imo
